Hondata Help! Car Wont Run
I just recently got my JDM P30 ECU socketed to receive Hondata at King Motorsports, the local performance shop, and now after i install the Hondata my car throws a check engine light, the revs wont go above 3.5k and as it idles the revs bounce up and down. Also, i tried to check the codes and i was not able to. THe ECU worked fine before. Does anyone know what the problem might be and how I could fix it?
Its in limp mode.
Make sure you have chip installed correct way.
The "notch" on the top of the chip should be facing the wiring harness.
and make sure the chip is lined up correctly with the socket as well.
Youll get no code if your car is in limp mode. Its classified as code "zero" or ecu failure. But most likely chip is in backwards or something to that effect, and make sure your s100/s200 is plugged in also.

well i checked to make sure the chip wasn't in backwards, i switched it around and then the car would only crank over, not start
when there is a prob. with the chip/soldering job/whatever hardware wise, you'll get as sayd above a solid cel. wich will turn on as soon as you turn the ignition on.

Switching the chip around may have fried that EEPROM.
Does the car still start after putting the chip back the way it was originally?
And typically with a redline of 3.5k and solid CEL, the solder job/chip is seen to be the culprit, as mmuller mentioned.

yeah it will start up again, i called king motorsports today and they said i might have a bad ECU, but i think they might be trying to sell me one of theirs

i went down to their shop yesterday to have them look at the ECU and apparently one of the jumpers got messed up when they soldered it, he said it was fixed then i went to plug it into and it still doesnt work. Could the ECU be permantley damaged?
I know that turning the chip around is a very bad thing to do. you could have fried the eeprom.
I know when I finally got my hondata the chip was bad and didnt work. my car would only run off 3 cyl. had to send the hole ecu and chip to hondata for them to look at it. got it back and worked just fine.

well they weren't able to figure it out, they did re burn a chip also and that didn't work so they gave me a new ECU, problem settled
