problem with hondata s100 in a p28
ok so i have a 93 civic with a b16 and i just bought a hondata system. So it was supposed to have a stock base map and a rev limiter of 9500K but when i start it up it is running really rich(black smoke come out) and it revs only to 4k and then it bounces off of the rev limiter. It is also throwing a code and the jumper method of reading it doesnt work. so how can i check the code? also is there anyway to see what the chip is with out taking it to the hondata people?

its the ecu could be the chip is not in corectly. the ecu is going into limp mode and not reading the chip. check to make sure its socketed correctly and that the chip is not loose.

looking at the chip at it present state. there is no way of telling what kind of prog. it got. that chip with it marking stated that it can be reuse or reburn not the 1 time use only chip. you got a s100 hondata system. why don't you take it back where you got the system from and ask them.

bump cus i have the EXACT SAME situation!!!!
im so pissed. cant figure it out.
Does your car idle like it's on 2 cylinders?
So far i've come to this,
bad map sensor
"If you map sensor went bad, the motor would run like it was on 2 cycl. and wouldnt rev past 4000."

what do you mean you dont have the fuelcurve? you mean the basemap?
I've gotten my basemap reburnt TWICE, no difference.
what is your fuel setup? what size injectors?
When you put in a stock ecu, it works like normal?

yea it works normal.
the hondata guy says that there are 2 chips that go in the one that says s100 on it and the other one that has the fuel curve and ingition curve burnt into it. and he said the second one could be blank or not there, but it seems that its there so it must be blank. so i was wondering what the markings on it would be if its resuable. it says
ATMEL
AT29C256
90PC
0344
in that order.

if the interface box is flashing then the EEPROM is either blank, has teh wrong program, or has the wrong version rom on it. Contact yuur dealer for a new base map or take the car to your tuner for proper tuning.
