Default adjusted valves, now car smokes

I had my valves adjusted tonight and now the car is idling at 500 to 600 rpms, it feels like it wants to die, feels like the car is constantly vibrating and im now also smoking. first ? is what should be idle be set at? 2nd ? is what could becausing my car to smoke now? I couldnt tell what color the smoke was but it is smoking. Could a valve thats to tight be the problem? The guy who did them says he thinks the first exhaust valve is to tight. if thats the case is that why my idle is off? I use to idle beteen 7 and 9 i think.

To get the car to smoke you'd have to be extremely loose, not tight. It almost seems that whomever that did your valve adjustment didn't tighten one or more of the valve adjusters on the exhaust side.
