Default Short shifter adapter for H22a, cause more harm than good on transmission?

Does the short shifter adapter cause more harm than good on the H22a transmission? Just curious to know. Would the transmission be better off without it?

Thanks,
Mark

it's not going to hurt your tranny, but it will rip your shift boot.

/me has a ripped shift boot.

i tried the DC and the Neuspeed, both sucked. I was so excited when i took the Neuspeed off and could shift smoothly and without rubbing again. No amount of carving out the shift boot frame helped.

That is true, especially in my case with 5th and reverse gear. I was considering shaving off some of the shift boot frame, but if you tried and it did not work, then no use in doing it. Hmmm, maybe that is why my reverse gear got permanently jammed and i had to take the tranny apart and get a new reverse gear ball bearing and fix the synchro.

replacing your shift boot is the least of your worries.
I had to replace the Shift cable's and replace the syncro in 3rd and 5th!!
Its not worth it dude!!!
Just shift faster

i hate to contradict but, i have a dc short shifter and yes i did have to grind the plastic thingy under the boot, and yes it did rip my shifter boot but i had no idea how or where exactly to cut it. so i bought a new shifter boot (bout 60 bucks) and did it right. now i have no rubbing, no torn shifter boot and super short fast shifts. only problem is how do you make it make that "cool" fast and the furious shifter sound? anyone else noticed it?

I bought an OBX (ebay off brand) short shift adapter and figured it to be a dc sports knock-off. I installed it on my 4th gen and I like the way it feels. It doesn't rub at all, reduced the throw a bit, and the shifts feel the same. I don't know if the shape is a bit different or it's since I have it on a 4th gen, but I have no problems with it and didn't have to carve up anything in my car.
