new shifter bushings?
For a while now everytime i shiftgears...even when at a stand still the shift level feels NOTCHY/CLUNKY as if there was no lube, sort of like metal hitting on metal.
When im driving and shifting it feels fins sometimes but still notchy.
Does anyone know if ill need some new bushings or some lube?masybe tighten up my shift linkage??
--
ALso not sure if this is Preludes only but when in gear and driving the shift level is STILL..no vibration at all..im sure its a good thing.
But in my friend's 2 gsrs and an EM1 si, all of their shift ***** when in gear and driving shake and vibrate.
Just wondering what's up with that?

Re: new shifter bushings? (BB1LOViN)
I can answer the second question. On the lude since the stick shift is connected to the tranny via cables, no vibration is transmitted. on the tegs and civics, the stick is connected with metal bars - hence the vibration.
my shifter has always felt notchy, when i had my console out i lubed the shift mechanism but it didnt do anything for me.

As far as the bushings, take a look at the ones by the transmission at the end of the cables. If they look wallowed out then definately replace them. If you feel like it then take your console off and check your shifter assembly for any obvious wear/lube issues. If you can't see a problem, then there probably isn't one there.
Both my lude and my buddies 96 Si have always felt a little notchy on the shifter, I thought it was a product of the design.
If you actually have trouble getting in gear but the bushings look ok, then your problem may be elsewhere such as a leaky clutch master or slave cylinder.

Re: new shifter bushings? (prion)
yeah maybe it is just the product of design, i just wanted a way to make it feel like "butter" haha after test driving a 5th gen.

i've never had any trouble going into gear,
just 1-3xs total have i had trouble going into 3rd. i tried to force it in but no luck so i just went 1-2-4...and it was under normal street driving conditions.
