Default installing starter lil help needed i did seach!! please help me out

hello everyone

my friend has a 95 teggy w/a b18b (ls) and i believe her starter is fucked up because when she turns the key in the ignition it will click and click and after a few tries it will finally start i dont see anything else being wrong but then again i may be wrong. so i searched and i found out that to remove the starter its by the tranny and you would remove the 12mm nut that holds the 12v battery and then theres only 2 14mm bolts holding the starter on.

is this info correct and is it hard to do so?
any help would be great thanks.

its very easy. make sure you unhook the battery 1st. there will be one small electrical connector on like a 14 guage wire and then like a 6 guage wire held on by a 12 mm nut. or unbolt the starter 1st and the disconnect the wires. i would also maybe get the battery load tested before you replace the starter. might really be your buddies only problem.

thanks alot vtecfed i am going to go ahead and make sure that the battery is good prob take it to autozone or something to see if its still good and then i will disconnect the starter and then disconnect the wires from it like the 14 gauge and the 6 guage.

if anyone had any pics of anything realated to this please post or post link i would apreciated very much.

It is a very easy job. Disconect the battery then remove the power wire from the starter, either a 10 or 12 mm nut. After that remove the signal wire from the starter solinoid. That should be all the wires that connect to the starter. The two bolts that hold the starter onto the tranny are 14mm and one is right on top of the starter, the other is hidden underneath it and is about 6-8 inches long. You can feel under the starter and touch the bolt head. After removig both of those bolts the starter should pull right out.

Before you remove it or even disconect everything I would try to run a wire from the battery ground to some point on the starter. I had this problem before and it was a bad ground. That just may save you some time and money. Good luck with the repair.
