I got a new ECU, a New Main Relay, A New distributor wires plugs and cap N Rotor, And My car turns over and simply will not start. I think I have a bad wiring harness on the engine or in the cab and am looking to replace both of them since I have had a mechanic tell me I have an open circuit or a short somewhere in my eletrical system. I have replaced all parts beside the engine and this is pissing me off. I will replace a wiring when I find a place that sells em cheap, any ideas?

Also, cannot get errors codes from check engine light unless car is running, anyone ever hear of a civic doing this? Everyone I have talked to says that I should be able to get error codes all day with the key turned over but it simply does not happen.

 

When you turn your key to the "on" position do you hear the fuel pump prime and then shut off.
When the sound goes away the CEL should go off at the same time.

Have you checked the fuse? Sounds lame but it is the weakest link. It should be right above the clutch pedal by the SRS fuse wich has a cap over it. It is also a 15amp fuse.

If the fuse has poped your pump wont prime and the CEL will stay on. It also wont start.

 

check the 15 amp fuse in the back p-side corner of the under hood fuse box too. thats the efi fuse.

 

you said you got new relay my bad. check the ecu fuse under the hood passenger side fuse box

 

check the fuses underdash #18 & #24
