Daily Driver GSR with a low budget...turbo???
I have a 2000 GSR and i'm lookin to go either trubo or supercharge. I talked to many people and shops and they mainly lean towards a turbo. There's a catch tho. it's my only car so i gatta survive the NY winters, budget is pretty low, i'm only lookin to spend 5k at the most including installation and i also want to keep the car around for a while. I also want to be able to go down to hunts point in the bronx and make some money..so what do you guys think...supercharge or turbo.
could ya elaborate on that a little bit.... y turbo over supercharger and which kinds are good...i hear good thiings about greddy, but i see some guys here have DRAG III. I heard from some people that the greddy would be better on street and DRAG was more for the strip..

you shouldn't spend more than 4,000 on a turbo kit including installation
the shop i go to has them for 3,500 installed and thats the t3/t4 set-up

a kit will run you around 3000. installation at shops vary, but they typically run around 500 dollars. But don't be fooled, you'll be buying little parts that aren't included with the kit that can add up to be alot of money. Budget and turbo shouldn't really be used in the same sentence. Turbo however has the best bang for the buck when it comes to speed.
a supercharger will be the easiest, no hassle, nearly maintenence free mod. when tuned properly, a GSR will be just as fast as if it had the stock Greddy kit. supercharger should run you less than 2000 installed if you find a used one.
Drag is made for....drag
More for all out topend, and will make more power than Greddy/JRSC on stock vs stock boost.

well in that case you could just get a used drag kit and install it for 2000 greddy jrsc and drag all run similar in price new. the drag kit is just a better kit.
Dude. I have a Drag3 for sale, Tial wastegate, GReddy turbo timer, Autometer A/F, Boost, and Fuel pressure gauges, Autometer dual gauge bezel. $2800. christurbo@earthlink.net
Get an alarm If you still owe a heavy amount of payments i would advise against a turbo. Only reason being an inccorectly installed 5 grand turbo could wind up costing you your motor and putting you 8000 more dollars in the hole (4000 new motor+4000 blown turbo) just something to think about
please find me a used JRSC and a place to install it for less than 2000. please.
btw, hows becky?

i think JRSC in an ITR is a little tricky though..
im going to go hit becky now.
dood, just look around. ive seen plenty of used JRSCs for under 1600, and a lot of shops install for 300..so you'd have another 100 left for stickers.
$300 to install a jrsc??? correctly??? thats a little optimistic don't ya think??
If you want a quick daily driver with lots of low end power that is still very reliable and basically maintence free, JRSC is the way to go.
If you want a ***** out fast car with limitless potential (if you have the cash) drag III turbo is for you.
I had the same dilemma last summer. I decided to go with the supercharger. The reason behind this is that it is a good, reliable product, IMO. I did a bit of research on it and found that it would probably be the best for me. It came with EXCELLENT instructions that could be downloaded on the internet and have very good customer service. I e-mailed them with a couple questions before I got the kit and they always replied within the next day. Plus, internet boards HostBoards: FI integra's and superhonda.org (which is down now...at least I can't get on it) have members with vast amounts of knowledge on JRSC cars. This site seems to have less JRSC owners and more turbo guys though I recognize some of your names from other boards (I'm B18C from superhonda).
Now that I have my supercharger, I can say that I have no regrets. It's not the fastest car out there but it is fairly quick. The driveablility of the car has increased 10-fold because of the low end torque and I don't know how I lived without it. Also, I'm no mechanic but my buddy and I installed the kit in one weekend (with lots of breaks to go buy the tools we didn't have) - with the help of a Helm's manual, of course. The kit is simple and the instructions are impecable. Hell, the screws and stuff came pre-telfon taped!
-just my 2 cents

thanks guys. Thats all great advice, but as much as i love turbo's and the sound of the BOV, i got my whole life ahead of me to go all out. If i'm ganna go turbo, i'm ganna have to do it right, which means a much better budget.
supercharger seems more realistic right now considering everthing i mentioned. but hey, if there is anyone thats wants to tell me differently go right ahead, beacuse i keep goin back and forth, so let me know..
