I got an EF hatch DX and im goin to swap my LS in it soon. I managed to get a turbo, manifold, downpipe, and a wastegate already. I was wondering what is the biggest size intercooler i can fit into my car. Please help. thanks.

it fits nice

had to cut the bumper a bit but it fits

 

If you cut out some of your front bumper support, you can have a very large intercooler.

 

If u go to large its going to give u a little boost lag

^^Yeah, that's because he's never driven turbo before, and bigger isn't always better in Intercoolers BTW.

 

the 5" JRC fit perfect with minor cuts
the 8" JRC will fiot with some bumnper cutting

No, that's because he won't notice a damn thing. Going from a small air/air front mount intercooler to an air/water intercooler mounted behind the passenger seat inside the car there was zero discernable difference in spool from a bunch of logs we took, on a relative of mine's Camaro. Think of how fast the air is moving. Couple hundred feet per second, and at 250 WHP that's like 25 pounds per minute of air. A pound of air at SATP is approx. 624 litres of volume. 624 x 25 = 15600 litres per minute. 260 litres per second. Tell me he's going to notice a 2, 3, 4 litre increase in size. A percent and a half increase in volume? Yeah, right. Other than radiator blockage, bigger almost always IS better with intercoolers.
