Default What else do i need besides check valves

Okay i searched but didnt find anything that exactly fit my problem, i have my full turbo kit installed with all piping. i started car and drove it around for about 3-5 minutes. the turbo did not spool so i searched and found that i need check valves to fool the map sensor, but do i connect them between the nipple on the tb and the map on the firewall? Also will i need an fmu or safc to run only like 5-7 lbs of boost? I will have 450 dsm injectors tommorrow and need to get my car running. I have a dohc zc engine with wiseco 9.1:1 compression pistons and crower rods. someone please let me know as i want my car going but without any harm to it. thanks

i thought that the dsms would work with the stock ecu. will it just flood out?

yes it will just flood it out without an AFC or a different fuel map for the ECU to use.

You do not want to use check valves with an AFC.

A friend of mine has a VAFCII and 450cc tuner toys injectors. Still throws the Check pants light under heavy sustained boost (aka 3rd gear) at 11psi. At 8psi it doesn't but what fun is 8psi?

The best route to go is a new ECU that you can program fuel maps for like uberdata or AEM EMS if you got cash.

You can do an fmu but then your whole set up will feel like an abused puppy dog,
you could proly find an fmu for like $75 or less maybe or 150-200 for an AFC.

either do it right or don't do it at all man.

I understand, I was the same way. 450s and a SAFC will get you running. BUt when you get like $65 you should get your ecu chipped, if that is possible for you.. might get you much better results.

You have a built motor and you don't know how to build a turbo kit? or at least control one.

do you do chipping? is it really only $65 to chip the ecu? I would go that route but i thought it was a lot more to have the ecu chipped. so when i get the ecu chipped will it control everything or will i still have to have a hondata? and im interested in learning about uberdata. and ya, i do have a built motor but the tuning is something im new to. ive put everything together so far i just for some reason didnt think about the map sensor not taking the boost. i was just gonna run a low amount of boost for a while til i could afford hondata or something like that. But get back with me about the chipping 93turbo16 thanks

you have the ecu chipped so you can run uberdata or hondata some kind of piggy back fuel setup kind of expensive but don't be cheap with your motor

The MAP sensor is fine with the boost. Its the ECU that freaks out cause there are no maps for boost. And actually the car would drive fine untill you hit boost then the CEL (I call it the check pants light) will come on.

You can fool the ECU by intercepting the map signal (AFC) or you can fix the problem by getting an ECU that has fuel maps for boost.

All in all since your poor is to start here http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/
Cheaper than an AFC but you have to be somewhat able to fend for yourself. Either way you will need a Wideband 02 sensor to tune with and they are expensive too.

Go get a loan from a bank for 2 thousand bucks and get AEM and a wideband.

wow you really should have researched....

honestly don't waste your money on the afc. Run an fmu with your stock injectors on 5-6psi right now if you have to while you save up for getting your ecu chipped to run uberdata or something.

honestly, don't waste your money on getting an AFC. Think about it, AFC's only control fuel...at least for the most part. You need to control your timing as well to compensate for your boost. Hondata, Uberdata, or some other form of chipping your ecu would be the best option. your car will run 10 times better with it compared to the AFC hack with proper tuning.

Get yourself a EMS...like Hondata or AEM...It'll save you from alot of future problems...And with bigger injectors you need to upgrade your fuel pump or else you'll be running lean and if you boost without more fuel="lean" then "KABOOM"

If he already spent all his money then how is he supposed to spend another $500-$1000 to get a management like Hondata or AEM EMS. Just do the Uberdata, I've heard many good things about it and will be running it this next summer. It is only $65 to get your ecu chipped, then you go to the dyno and get it tuned and should be good to go. 93turbo16 is going to chip my ecu, look at his vouch thread it speaks for its self. Go check out the Uberdata site, http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/faq/index.html, and keeblers site is very good to give you a grasp of what Uberdata is and what it does, http://home.mn.rr.com/keebler65/honda/. I also don't think you need check valve when running Uberdata, please correct me if I am wrong.

so who do it get to chip my ecu? ive been researching and i want to get my ecu socketed and run turboedit, since im obd0. i dont really want to change over to obd1 because of the cost of buying a p28 and the conversion harness. so i want to just use my ecu and have it chipped or socketed. who can chip it because im ready to get it out on the road.

dude, be realistic! The guy probably just busted open his biggy bank to be able to afford the kit, and now you're suggesting he should get AEM which cost at least 1K, that is probably more than what his whole car cost. Apparenlty, which that much knowledge, the kid would be better off with some diy managements such as turboedit, uberdata, chrome ect, so when he actually blows his block up, he wont feel as stupid. Hondata or Aem..hah.

Thanks...yes I can get you hooked up with TurboEdit either by chipping your ECU for you and providing a basemap for you to get started on or just by selling you the parts you need to chip your own ECU with a basemap on the chip.

If you still need help, let me know. Also, read up a little on TurboEdit...you dont need to convert to OBD1 at all.
