Default Z6 stuttering/popping during acceleration, check list of what to look for?

Car is studdering mainly from idle - 4000 RPM or so... but more so the lower end when I am applying the gas a little more. The car is making popping noises then finally comes out of it as ease off the throttle a little. However, once back on the throttle is reverts back to the stuttering etc during acceleration. Any advice would be appreciated.

So far my list to check consists of:

*wires (how do you check the resistance and what values am I looking for?)
*dizzy (check cap/rotor but not sure what else to look for?)
*plugs (doubt this is the problem since I can florr the car fine in the higher rpm range (5000 RPM +)
*plugged cat?? (car seems fine in the higher RPM's as mentioned)

Anything else??
TIA

vaccuum leak maybe or maybe one of your plugs are bad or a bent valve

I highly doubt a bent valve, nothing has changed and if the Tbelt skipped a tooth the car would be mangled all the time. I will check vacuum though.

I did search already, but haven't found anyone with the exact same problem that has come to a reasonable solution.

Why would my timing be out though? I have not touched it and the dizzy is on tight? Is there another way the timing can go outta whack?
