Distributor and rust
Ever since I have gotten my car back from the first *** who tried to "install" my turbo kit. I have been hearing this weird noise from under the hood. It sounds like metal scraping together. (That's the best way I can describe it.) So I called the guy that is going to do my turbo kit in a week or two to ask him what he thinks. He told me to check the under the distributor cap for any rust. So I did and this is what I found.....

You can't see it too well but there is a slight amount of rust build up on the contact point.
There is a different angle and the inside has a good amount of rust also as you can see.
Is there anything to worry about with that rust? Could that be the cause of the sound I am hearing? If not any idea what the sound could be? Thanks for any help.

ok so he told you to look for that rust, and what did he say it meant? I have never heard of such a thing, and to just say ok I hear a knock look for rust on the dizzy is pretty ambitious
It's not so much a knock, it's a scraping kind of noise. There is no power loss, it's pulling just as hard as ever. He just gave me that idea real quick. And it's not a constant noise. It's random. Sometimes it's 2nd and 3rd. Sometimes just in 4th and 5th and sometimes not at all. I guess I should have explained the noise a little better. So the rust is nothing to worry about?

I wouldn't worry about the rust at all. If rust on your distributor contact points are the biggest thing for you to worry about on a 10+ year old car, I'd be a happy Prelude owner! What model do you have? Sorry, I'm only a noob.
Think about it this way, if the noise is caused by rust it will only get worse and become more obvious. Right now the noise is in its beginning stages. Or, it may go away all together.

It's a 98 Base model. The noise is really starting to annoy me, on my way to school today I heard it, only in 4th though. It's really odd. Hopefully when I drop my car off to this guy who is putting my turbo kit on in a week, he can figure something out.

Are you sure it's coming from the passenger's side of the vehicle?
Rust on the rotor in the distributor is not at all uncommon. It's actually the norm.
Now, run on the shaft of the distributor is very odd. I've got a 98 Prelude myself, and the OEM distributor has 125k on it... and there isn't a rusted part in sight.
Take the 3 12mm bolts off and pull of the distributor.
Put the cap and rotor back on... and hand turn the unit... see if it's binding for any reason.
Just place a small rag under the distributor where it goes into the head... you'll generally see a little oil drip there...
For $180.00 you can get a good aftermerket Port Electric distributor from Distributor King, one of the advertisers here at Honda-Tech.
That's the same price as just the body for the OEM unit.
It also comes with a 3 year warranty.

Did you end up replacing the pump or rebuilding it? Any idea what part of the pump went bad? I'm trying to figure out if its worthwhile for me to get a PS pump gasket kit and just "rebuild" it in hopes of getting the grinding noise to go away...

No, this happend right after i finished my swap. I just had added 1 bottle of honda power steering fluid thinking that would be enough, but really i had to put in another bottle. But only having a 1 bottle of fluid was enough to make that grinding noise.

Have you pin pointed the noise yet. It could be the water pump bearing getting ready to go out. Not to sure if that will make noise constantly or intermittant.
