Default TPS Problems

Ok I have a 2000 Type R with a Jackson Racing Supercharger. I also have the APEXi VAFC and Hondata (I know I don't need both thats why im taking the VAFC off) Anyways I have noticed on the VAFC that it will be detecting throttle when im not giving it any. like i'll be driving and it will say im at 15% throttle and then it will jump up to say 50% or anywhere inbetween. Sometimes even higher. It will also detect it when im stopped and just idleing. like it should say 0% throttle and its jumping around up to like 15-20%. When Idleing the revs will drop low and then jump back up and sometimes the car will get so low that it dies. And when it does it while im moving the car kinda jerks back and forth. I checked the voltage readings on the VAFC when the engine is running and the voltage reading is between .6-.9 at idle. it dosn't stay constant cause its detecting that throttle response that im not giving it. When the car is just on the on possision but the engine isn't running it is reading .54 at no throttle and 4.5 at with it pushed to the floor. I have a new Thorttle Sensor to put in so is that my problem. or would the VAFC and Hondata interfer with one another some how. Its just getting really annoying and it seems to be getting worse. Please help.

I would check where and how the TPS wires are connected to the VAFC harness. Some idiot that had my car before me had just used the wire taps to plug all the electronics in, and I was getting all sorts of problems due to bad connections.

Remember that if your using a step-down harness in you car that the VAFC wires should be close to the ECU and SOLDERED. Chances are its in the wiring, but another possible problem could be if anyone has ever messed with the TPS, then it might be loose and moving due to the vibration, but I doubt it.

Could be a ground issue. Take a temporary wire from battery ground to the TPS, see if the voltage changes.

Did u even check what I mentioned? I bet anything it has to do with the wiring between the VAFC and the ECU. Also, I will say this again, the where the VAFC wires to the ECU wiring, it must be close to the ECU, so if the VAFC was originally wired and then u bought hondata and got a STEP-DOWN harness, you have now effectively moved the wires FARTHER from the ecu.

But to answer your question, I don't think there should be any conflicts between Hondata and the VAFC. I use my VAFC with Uberdata and its fine. Also you should re-initialize the VAFC and set it up for your car, but don't make any fuel adjustments with the VAFC, just use it as a monitor and have the car tuned with hondata.

Rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Um.....yeah....We're going to start submitting a cover sheet with our TPS reports from now on...

I would listen to the others. It's more than likely a grounding and/or connection problem. Unless you dropped the unit before the install. Like the guy above said, it's important to ALWAYS solder your connections and use something to insulate the connections when done, weather it be ghetto-fab electrical tape or some high speed line-butt splices. If you have two wires that are touching...it will definately make the unit act all funny because it's going to be grounding out on it's self.

The problem is the butterfly valve. It is on the back of the throttle body. THere is a little plate on the back of the TB that you have to take off. It is two little bolts. Then you must tighten the valve that is inside. YOu have to use two little flathead screwdrivers to do this. Tighten it tight and put the cover back on and you should be good.

Ahhh ... wait, the Bobs are calling.

P.S. Check your wiring connections, and soldering in situations like this is always a good idea.
