Gapless piston rings benefit , worth for the money ??
anybody really feel a HP gain by using gapless piston rings such as Totalseal ????
i want to know if it worth for the money ???

No (my opinion).Once rings are at running temp. there is practically no gap in a conventional ring. They will show lower leak down on a cold engine, but the engine doesn't stay cold for long.

Hype???
Some people swear by them, I personally like standard rings. That is what I use on everything. I have used the total seals and have not seen any difference, so I think it is a waste of $.

If you do not know what the end gap should be, or how to set it, and just buy reg. rings (large gap) they could be better. Great leak-down no power.

uhmmm.. acctually i've used it several time but never dyno it to find the different ,and by using compression tester (not leakage tester) i've found an increase in pressure... but that was when the engine still cold...
anyway thanks you all , i'll stop wasting my money on gapless rings..

I had a set in my old itr motor, I had ton run a vacuumrestrictor in my pvc line as it wouldnt suck all my oil into the intskr mani.
I think the whole theory behind the "gapless" ring would be better leakdown and less blowby. Tbone I know you know your ****, but I don't know why everyone says "PVC Valve" its PCV i'm sure you know that though. Pry just a typo
The reality is that when the piston and rings are up to temp there is almost no end gap.A gap that starts at .020" cold may only be .005" at temp.More pressure gets around the ring thru the groove and around back of the ring than thru the end gap.The compromises they make on the second ring to make it gapless affect its flexibility and oil scraping capability's.The engines I've dynoed with gapless rings have made more crankcase pressure than similar engines while having less leakdown.I don't use them, some do.

Man I'm the most dyslexic person you will ever meet.. I still type with 2 fingers as well.. So you can only imagine how long it takes me to respond on here.. also typing with 2 fingers as fast as I do causes alot of typo's.... Btw when you refer to yourself it's I'm not i'm, mr grammar

did that dyno number show any gain from conventional rings ???

I've never done a back to back ring test in the same engine. But the higher crankcase pressures tell me that there is not as good ring seal with the gapless rings with the engine under power.
