What do you want the motor to do ? Drag ? Daily driven ? Once you decide, I suggest doing a compression test and a leak down test and see the condition of the engine

i just wanna do daily driven. not for race or anything. i just want the feeling of not having to worry about my motor breaking down on me anytime soon. the motor is starting to get louder than it was when i first bought the car. i want the new motor feeling, lol.

do a compression test first to see if it really needs a rebuild. How many miles are on the motor?

If the motor is in good condition still, just get a major tune up, like change cap and rotor, plugs, plug wires, coolant flush, oil change, valve adjustment, etc, etc etc....

Like what the other people said... check compression #s to make sure you really need to rebuild. Honestly if compression numbers arent bad then i say drive it and just do a major tune up with all the belts, seals, cap/rotor, plugs+wires, etc....

i just had my bottom end rebuilt last week, my rings were shot. my machinist said the pistons fell right out of the cylinder. i had new bearings put, hone and jdm itr pistons installed. i hope it passes smog. the motor feels a hundred times better.

kwik_B16, how much did they charge you for the bottom end rebuild? do you have to reprogram the ecu since your having higher compression ratio?

hey..im not that great either but if you wanna just rebuild with out building power jsut go with OEM honda of course..but if you want power I would recommend getting your block sent to a machine shot hot tanked, and all that. also get some darton sleeves and have them bored out 85mm. and get some after market pistons and rods.. if you just wanna raise compression find some type R pistons.. if you really wanted to go the cheap route you could get it done for less than 1000$ and get it done good.. but if u want true power you are gonna pay more of course

dont do a thing this guy is saying

do a compression check and that will tell you everything you need to know. but how many miles are on your motor? i have almost 190,000 and still runs strong.

well, he doesnt really know if he needs a rebuild yet, but even if he does, he won't need to bore it out to 85mm, thats a lil too far too soon.
