Default Where to rent Ball joint pressers?

Hey guys i'm trying to remove my ball joint from the actual knuckle, (not from the control arm). I went to autozone to see if I could rent a tool when I went to buy the ball joint, but the dude handed me a pickle fork and i'm like what am i supposed to do wit this? I told him it's not the right tool for removing it from the knuckle and he insisted it was so I just took the ball joint and left.

I called the other autozone and asked if they had a ball joint pressing kit and they said they don't carry them.

Anyone know where I can rent a kit like one of these?

I want to do this myself, dont really want to remove the entire hub and take it over to a shop =P thx guys

Take my advice, I've rented that before. You get a nice, and I mean very nice, workout using that. However, it's a waste of your time and deposit.

Use a big ******* hammer. I've done it this way maybe 10 times now. i'm just trying to save you time.

WORD
I felt so f*cking stupid!!
I paid 20 bucks for a mechanic to use a big hammer and get it done in 10 mins.
No point in using that kit because on honda, the hub is real tight because of the way it is, and there is not enough room to use that especially on the lower ball joint.
Use a hammer, hammer it out and spray wd40 on the new ball joint and gently hammer it back in.
Never hammer the stud, use a big socket that wraps around the rubber thing, and hits the metal of the ball joint

Hmm.. How do I get it out with a hammer? All I have is one of those Regular Hammers and a rubber mallot, Nothing with a big *** anvil on it or anything.

Do I have to remove the entire Knuckle? I'm assuming I'd have to to get a good hangle to hammer it. And my other question is Does anyone have a diagram of the ball join and how it goes in? How is it inserted n everything. =P thanks.

if it is the lower ball joint you are talking about ...then just put a long neck socket over and hammer the socket...it'll come right off

Good freakin idea... Do I have to take the entire knuckle off to do this or can I get off easy and somehow do it with everything on?

So I take it every autozone hangs a sign in the window that states "now hireing idiots"... at least I know the one near me does.

Alrighty guys. I just decided to go the hammer route. I removed everything and now I need to know how to get that little Clip thingy off with the 2 holes in it? Is there a special tool to remove it or something? What is it called and where can I get it?

thx

as i was hammering on it, and it started to peak out, I sprayed a buncha wd-40 on it and pblaster and i hammered it out with the quickness with just a regular hammer. After it was out I sprayed more wd40 in the little hole that theball joint sits in and hammered it in with the same hammer and it went in real easy
