I connect the 12v ballast power wires to the headlight wire harness. I turn on the headlights and the HID bulb illuminated for about 3 seconds then went out. At first I thought I blew my bulb or ballast, but I plugged it directly to the battery and it works fine.
So now I'm searching for a blown fuse. I search everywhere but I don't find anything. The weird thing is that the other side of the headlight still has power. So I take the ballast and bulb over to the other side and plug it in. Same thing happened again as the first side. Now none of the headlight wire harnesses have any power.
What can it be? Does each headlight have it's own fuse? Does anyone know why it does this? TIA...

maybe provide more specs on the setup you have, OEM retrofit? or plug and play kit that uses the stock wiring harness?
putting in bigger fuses is not suggested since it will make the wiring the weak link instead of the fuses.

May have just burnt your stock headlight harness. Most people with HIDs dont connect directly to the headlight wire harness.

he alreay solved the problem, it was the fuse. he needed to get a 20 amp fuse.

putting a bigger fuse to solve the problem only creates a bigger problem, fire. theres a reason the fuse rating is picked for that certain circuit, its because any more amperage can't be handled by those tiny *** pubic hair wires.
why not do it the proper way and get a relay driven harness directly wired to the battery? it will help your ballasts live longer too, your not doing any good by not allowing it to draw the correct amount of amperage

I ran my HID on stock headlight harnesses for 15 months with 20 amp fuses with no problems.
I did end up making new harnesses w/ relays, but for other reasons (personal preference).
Hmm I think I might still have those 20-amp fuses under my dash, I should probably change them back to 10....
