Default Another EGT question (searched)

ok so i've read and read about egt probe placement and what not. it seems that most people are using a 1600 degree probe. would it be over kill to get a 2200 degree probe? or should i get a 1600 degree and be done with it? also this is the gauge that im looking at getting along with the kit: http://www.42draftdesigns.com/...0.htm

anyone have luck with these? i already have the oil pressure and the boost gauge. i'm hoping that they will work decently as i have not been able to find any stories about these gauges.

I have never tried those gauges, but I have heard a bunch of good things about them.

I'm not exactly a guru but on my bro's talon the temp never really gets past 1500' even when he's romping it. Oh and by the way...i just happen to be selling an Auto-Meter Phantom 52mm EGT gauge and kit

Should be put on the 3rd runner about 3-4 inches away from the block.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been under the understanding that anything over 800c/1500f means something is going wrong (i.e. going lean). You should never see temps in the 1100c/2000f range. Hell, a Greddy egt stops at 1200c/2200f.

ive had mine hit 900c. egt's get pretty high when you run too rich. on a proper tune you wont really need an egt, but thats cuz i run a wide band 24/7.

Under boost with proper ignition timing, you should see values from 750c-800c and 1380f-1500f. Anything higher than that, and you need to learn a little bit more about what EGT's mean. Where can you learn? Check this site out:
