Burner Smell? 95 Civic Ex
I've noticed this since i first bought the car. When you accelerate to fast a burnimg smell like burning belts comes from the engine. This is not my belts since i already changed all of them and there's no sign of wears. I think it might have to do with the clutch/transmission. What could this burning smell be coming from. It only occurs for a short while and fades away after 5-6 seconds. Please give me your ideas on this problem.
i get the same prob in my vx...ihave a dx tranny and a p28 in it right now...under heavy acceleration when vtec-e hits i get the same smell..very strange. being that i drive a vx i think the smell is the smell of horse power that does not exist!
Find a hill you can comfortably drive up in 4th/5th gear. Start climing the hill, and put it in 4th and try flooring it, do this in 5th too. If the engine starts revving right up, but the car doesnt accelerate any faster, your clutch is probably slipping. I cant remember if this "test" is right, I just remember seeing Bauley or Ricey post it up once.
that sounds like a good test for slipping clutch.....but if that is not the prob then what would be the answer to the problem. it may be his prob....but i know my clutch is fine....and i only smell it after vtec.............comments please
