Default resurface mani?

hey all, just bought a 2nd hand, but never used crp log mani. i put the flange side flat on the table and it is not perfectly smooth, like there is a milimeter or so on either sides and around the flange. i was wondering if i will expierence exhaust leak, and if i need to get this mani resurfaced, or should i just gbet a gasket or soemhting? thanks all.

Only one way to find out...

The manifold is easy to take off and on, in the case it blows.

however, if you have a belt sander available, it will help to flatten out the flange. If not, careful work with a flapper-disk may help.

I wouldnt go near that thing with a belt sander personally. You cant even make wood flat with one. but if you have no other options you can do it if you are VERY CAREFULL. Do not run the sander along the length of the flange or straigth across it. I would try to run it at about a 45deg angle. the chances of rocking the sander and ruining the manifold are far less.

<--uses belt sanders, etc... all day long.

while its off, go machine it. i have seen manifolds with warped flanges and the user will bolt them down to hope if they tighten it enough, that it will pull even with the head. it will pull true, but it will stress the manifold because it isnt in its WELDED state and it will begin to crack most likely like i have seen
