Default b16a semi-built vs. jdm b18c-r

jdm stock bottom end with b18 crank
jdm b16a head
itr intake manifold
itr exhaust manifold
jdm b16a tranny

VS.

jdm itr b18cr

would changing the crank of a b16a and intake and exhaust manifold compare anywhere near a b18cr?

how can you make a b16a become a stock itr b18c-r?

poormans type R is a b18 bottom (either LS, or GSR) and B16 head.

You wont get the B18 torque with a B16 unless you go FI.

yea but im sure just by changing the b16 crank to the b18 crank, it turns out to be a b18.

so b16 block
b18 crank
b16 head
type r IM
type r EM
b16 tranny

all those should make a type r right?

You would also need a set of CTR or maybe itr cams & itr valvesprings for that top end powah.

I think if you put a b18 crankshaft into a B16a that your pistons would smash into the head, someone correct me if I am wrong

I believe you are 100% correct.

B16 stroke = 77.5
B18 stroke = 87.2

It would be alot easier just to get a B18 bottom end. Whats wrong with doing that?

This is correct, but if you do a search in the all motor forum, you'll see a couple people that have done just what you're asking about. If you put a B18c crank and rods into a B16a block, you'll need some custom made shorter pistons which are available specifically for this setup and you can have a B18c in a B16 block. The only real advantage to doing this is the sleeper effect. I've seen a 2.0L configuration like this in a B16 block and head setup so when you lift your hood, everyone thinks you only have a B16 engine in there.
