ATTENTION: Type Rs with turbo
I was wondering how many miles have you guys driven after the installation of a turbo kit on stock internals. I have a drag gen iii setup with aftermarket fuel pump, rail, injectors, and it's managed by a hondata s200b. I know turboed cars cannot last as long as a NA car so i just want to see who has driven the most miles on a turboed R on stock internals after the installation of the turbo. Thanks
Brando's car = about 300 miles after turbo installation and tune.
Was having problems with boost spike. Had an eight lb spring in my waste gate but was getting 12-14lb spikes and problems with boost controller.
Cracked the number 4 cylinder and hydrolocked it at the same time
Dont do what I did. Ever....
Never.
Aloha,
Brandon

mine lasted one summer, but i was really hard on it plus planned to send the block out over winter anyway. i broke some ring lands at the end of summer.
a friend of mine ran his for 2 years(literally daily driven to school, work, girlfrinds, drag strip etc.) with an inline pro headgasket and the afc hack for fuel with a greddy kit. we just switched bottom ends in his car for a built one. nothing was wrong with his he just got a good deal from someone that wanted to go bigger and wanted to start over with a stock bottom end.
its all in the tuning, if your gonna spend the money spend it on a good fuel management and tuning.

8,000 miles, three track weekends. One time, the vacuum hose to the wastegate popped off
, another time at the track I leaned it out (17:1, 1900F EGT) because I was low on gas coming out of a carousel.
Compression isn't great, but compression tests are overrated anyway. Last I checked, 225-200-205-200 or so.
10 PSI street (295 WHP), 8 PSI track with one day at 10 too. Stock internals, the head has never even been taken off. I am a Hondata (and Suprdave of Whip Factory) believer.

I am the friend he is talking about. I ran the hack for about 8 monthes and switched to a FMU set up with the 450's and AFC. I ran .9 bar of boost daily and 1.1 bar at the track for 2 years. I drove the car everyday unless it was snowing really.
it is all in how you drive, tuning, and the friends you have to help(shamless plug for eric
