Default HESITATION PROBLEM AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

I have a problem with my 1998 Honda Accord EX. My check engine light comes on and goes off. Sometimes it stays off for days and sometimes it stays on for days. The problem I have been having lately is that my car, when I start it up, sounds like the battery does not want to turn over. I stop trying, turn the key again it starts a little more and by the 2nd or 3rd time it starts completely. Also, when I press on the gas initially upon starting my car, it hesitates for about a good 15 miles when I reach a certain speed. If I take my foot off of the gas, it glides, no problems, no hesitation, I put my foot back on the gas and it hesitates again until I drive for a little while. What could this be? Maybe my battery is weak or something? Please help me.

Need to check that code. Not sure what to tell you just yet, what you described could be numerous things...

Was your car part of the Ignition Recall. If so - get it fixed. They have found an issue on some models that the car may stall when travelling at any speed. Fix that first.

Applies to L4 Engines:
The hesitation was exactly the same for me. There is a TSB for the fuel pressure regulator (moisture in FPR) - replace it and there is a new vaccum tube kit for it. Once I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, all hesitation problems have been solved. Depending on your mileage, doesn't hurt to change rotor, distributor cap and plugs.

Cheers.
