Need REAL advice on LS/Vtec Build! searched
ok ive been reading on LS/Vtecs for a good 2-3 hours. Now i have come up with some questions that were never answered straight forward in the post.
1. Is It safe to run 81.5 or 81.25 in the LS block
2. I planning on Using P30 or ITR pistons... What would the CR be for either of these. Ive heard that Cspeed's Comp Calculator is wrong so just asking for assurance.
3. Do the P30 or ITR pistons have to be machined to Fit Eagle LS rods?
4. Will ARP Main Studs fit a GE girdle?
5. CAMS!!! everyone has been debating on what cams are the best. Im pondering between the Wicked Stage 2's and the BC spec III+. which one would best fit my setup.
6. if im using the P30's or ITR can i still use the stock B16 injectors or would u recommend some 310's?
Thank you for taking time to read this and hopefully i can get some answers.
BTW. I have 91-96 octane gas here in Indiana. and i will run 100 oct on race day's.

1 yes its safe. stock sleeves can be bored up to 82mm. my lsvtec is bored to 81.5 with pr3 pistons
2 with a b16 head usdm itr's will yeild 10.8cr jdm itr's will be 11.2, pr3's will be 11.3 and p30's will be 11.5cr. just as .2 cr if you using a gsr head
3.no p30's dont but itr and ctr pistons do, 1.mm from each side of the rod must be machined down to fit itr or ctr pistons.
4. if you want to run a girdle you need arp or stock gsr/itr main bolts. itr/gsr windage tray, oilpan, and oil pick up. you also have to machine the ls maincaps and the girdle to accept the dowels
5. bc stage 3's would be great but i would go with something bigger with 11.5cr like maybe sunk2 stage2's or even the bc stage 4's
6. well its going to be close. i would say if you use stock cams stock injectors would be fine. but if you get cams i would get some 310cc injectors. stock injectors are good to about 180-200 whp
or you can be cheap like me and just run the turbo eclipse injectors ($50 450cc) but you need to run a resistor box

This is debatable. On my lsvtec i didn't use a girdle but i did use the ARP rod bolts and it was fine. The only thing i think i shouldve done that i didn't do what get the entire rotating assembly balanced. Hell i didnt even have the ARP main studs but i wasnt intending on taking the thing as high as you will be with those cams that youre interested in. I just stuck some gsr cams for boost in it.
The p30s will fit the ls rods jsut fine. No machining needed.
G' Luck with it. You should dip that below that 13.5 mark with the added displacement and stroke.

With our Golden Eagle girdle, the main caps do not need to be alstered in any way. We used step down dowels that fit into the main girdle without any alteration making it very easy to install. You ar correct that you will need GSR oil pan, oil pickup, windage tray and main bolts/studs.
