im at the school shop right now and we just put a d15 vtec into my friends car, it starts up and idles fine but as soon as you give it some gas it sounds almost like the engine bounces off the rev limiter?

any ideas of what it could be?

 

sounds like the timing is off. pull off the valve cover and cam covers to check it out

we need more information to help you. what rpm does it "bounce" at? does it smell rich? how are the spark plugs? etc. give us the most info u can give us, right now i can think of about 15 things it could be easily.

 

i dont know the rpm as the tach is not hooked up, and the car didnt come with one, but its just after you give the engine a bit of gas, so im guessing around 1500-2000rpm, it doesnt smell rich, and all spark plugs seem to be working. vacum lines are hooked up, although there is a sensor on the throttle body that was not on the old one??
