Problems with my computer after using my tig
Is there anyway a tig can cause problems with my computer...as since I started using my tig I have had 2 computers crash in a 4 day period
Could the HF starts cause problems?

Are they in close proximity? If so, then yes, it could cause the computers for go FUBAR. The electromagnetic power of the welder would be more than enough to mess up the computer.
The welder is in the basement the comp is on the main floor
I got one computer up and running but the other one refuses to boot
"disk read error, press cntrl alt delete to restart"
Is there anyway to avoid this?
Does elecrtomagnet interference come through the power lines?...sorry I don't know.
Thanks guys.

d'oh... there's no boot sector (or a currupt one). The PC is fine, the boost sector on the hard drive is not. I could probably fix it but I'm probably thousands of miles away. :-P
Hit me with an IM and I'll give you some pointers on how resolve it. As far as preventing it from happening... can't help you there. I know the high-frequency isn't good either. When I'm welding none of the portable phones work either. Pisses my wife off. haha

I know for Windows 98 " fdisk /mbr " works when you use a boot disk. Not sure if it would work for XP, you might have to use the Recovery Console on a bootable XP CD.

Also is this a power surge problem? The computers run off a power bar which is plugged into the wall....is there anyway to stop this from happening when I tig?
Thanks for the replies

Yeah...I have a vent fan just for it running to outside....doesn't seem to be a problem, I have no garage and I'm in canada so I'm surrounded by snow...only place left is the basement
