Default Bone stock ls-vtec redline

I'm trying to put together my ls-vtec. Here are my specs:
B16 head (99 si)....Stock
B18B block w/ 117,xxx...stock
I/H/E
Where should i set vtec engagement and revlimiter for this set up? This is a daily driver set up. I need responeses ASAP. I'm trying to order my ecu today.

I'd say your power curve is going to come in about 100 rpms earlier than it previously did. I would set vtec to engage around 4500-4800. And if your cams and valvetrain are stock I would leave the rev limit around 8000 not much more.

bump....thanks for the responses. I was wondering because looking at the dyno charts in importreview.com for similar setups the cars seem to be pulling all the way up to like 8200rpms and i was thinking with out reving at least to 8000 is this whole swap even worth it.... anybody out there running a similar setup that can chime in on this one.

why wouldnt it be worth it? youshould see signifigant gains in torque as well as having a wider power band. RPMs arent everything.

Rev it to around 8200. It should be fine. I did my little brothers lsvtec with stock bottum end and stock 99si head also. only thing difference is that he has stage one skank cams. I do recommend getting valve train and rod bolts just so you can rev higher but 8200 should be ok with your current setup. I think he goes to at least 8200 on the track. I think he might even take it to 8600 but I could be wrong on that...
Good luck

MAIN thing to get in order to safely rev over 7500 rpms:

Valve springs and ARP rod bolts. stock ls rod bolts will stretch at high rpms and spin bearings, throw rods, damage crank, etc. i wouldnt run anything higher than 7500 is u havent changed the rod bolts to a set of ARP's. if u do change them then u can rev to whatever the stock redline is for the vtec motor, about 8K. get valve springs and u can take it up even more

why do i need valvespring on a head that was designed to rev past 8k in stock form. You guys have convinced me on the arp rod bolts and i'm thinking about acl bearing but i'm not sure what to order. but the whole valve spring thing makes no sense

disregard what i said about valvesprings. if u get bigger cams then get valve springs. stock springs will do fine. do get arp rod bolts

If you get the rods/bolts and apparently you have bigger cams which means valve springs. The only other thing i could think of would be TI retainers.

With all this I say you could safely rev to probably 8600-8800.
