How much HP should I risk on stock axles?
I'm getting tuned next week and expecting ~320whp.
I'm on a CM Stage3 clutch, stock GSR flywheel, 15" GSR rims, and a SLIGHT (1.75"front/1.5"back) drop w/ Sprint lowering springs (I know, I know, I need better suspension).
I want to use Drag Radials at the strip, but I'm worried about being one of those people that have to push their car off the track because an axle popped.
Does anyone have any experience w/ Integra LS (not sure if GSR axles are the same strength or not) axles? Are the Drag Radials sticky enough to make me snap them?
Any help would be appreciated.

Alot a things factor into broken axles. But I think the number one thing is the driver. But honestly at over 300whp you need to invest in a stronger set of axles. Gator offers good axles for the money
I tried getting some prices for Gator, but couldn't find any on their website.
I'm just looking for 300whp axles. 400 MAX! If anyone could let me know, or link me to their price list, it'd be appreciated.

I agree. I'm still using stock axles, and I'm putting down 445hp. I tend to launch a bit higher than most because I want a little tire spin. Another factor is tire pressure. Too low can break axles as well.
good luck. I think your fine for now.

i have a set of gator stage 3 axles for sale that are pretty much made for the horsepower range you are shooting for. let me know if you are interested...didnt mean to hijack your thread by the way
Oh no worries, you're not hijacking at all.
Well, if TurboChrgd_Civic and Johnny O A20 KIller made 400+whp on stock axles, I'm sure I could go w/ 320whp and use some Drag Radials at the track.
I appreciate all the help/info, guys.

if you want to launch with 320 and ???tq with stock axles i think you will break them. driving is one thing. but heating up some drag radials and popping that clutch sounds like your axles will be stressed possibly too much. i think the only thing that may save you is the fact that you have turbo lag. just get some real deal axles. you have a nice output, you need the right axles.
i made 355whp & 245wlbs, launched at 7250rpms on 24.5in slicks for the entire season and never broke an axle. This was with a ACT unsprung 6-puck clutch. I pulled 1.7x 60 fts and just kept going. I think wheel hope plays a major roll here, as I normally had zero wheel hop with my traction bars & mount inserts.
I guesss one thing to think about aswell is the Car weight..
I run stock axles in my civic although I only make 226whp and 164ft lbs I run 1.55 60fts on a 24.5" slick I launch upwards of 7500rpm but my hacth barely breaks 1800lbs with me in it..

</TD></TR></TABLE>You will breakn more axles on drag raials than you will with slicks.
A drag radial will be prone to wheel hop more that a good wrinkle wall.
I have had alot of success with stock axles. My theory is an axle is easier tio fix than a tranny. Picture it as a 60.00 fuse.

same goes here..I have made over 50 launchs/pass on stock axles at 530+ whp and daily driven the car for over 2 years on the same axles..didnt break one till I put a lsd in and to top it off both broke street racing..(I know shame on me)..
I reallr want better axles..but if Iam keeping stock alive I dont see a need right now..
