Default Any advice for a turbo virgin?

I am installing a turbo kit(Full Race stage2)on my DA Teg and have no prior turbo experience. I know how everything works but am curious about the actual install, once everything is complete can I start the car to check for oil or vacuum leaks before I trailer it to my tuner? What is a good way to make sure there is no deris in the turbo? Thanks for any advice.

Make sure there is no debris in the turbo? Im not sure the question...if there is, you would have had to put it there. If then turbo spins freely before installation, chances are its "debris-free"

Once everything is complete, if your fuel system is setup to adequately idle the car then sure, you can start it up to ensure that you dont have any oil leaks or vacuum leaks somewhere. Although with a turbo install, there isnt much you can do to botch vac lines.

The 2 things that typically occur are minor oil leaks after the install, if you didnt tighten things down or used the wrong fittings, and boost leaks, which if you dont drive on it beforehand, will figure out when you bring it to the tuner.

When I fired up my car for the first time:

1) I used the wrong fitting for the feed line, it cracked upon installation and subsequently couldnt hold pressure (duh)

2) Blew couplers a few times, took a bit to get them on right and tight.

3) Creeped like crazy due to open downpipe and drag manifold

Thats about it.

I installed my walbro pump and drove it around first to make sure everything was cool before I started the rest of the install. The hondata and injectors are going in when I get tuned. Is this OK?
