Default Copper T3 Inlet Gaskets

I been thinkin about this for a long time now and have the plans about ready to carry out but i want to get some other opinions first before i do this....

I want to make some T3 Gaskets out of .050" Copper. I feel that .010" SS just isnt cutting it to seal properly. Stainless steel does NOT compress making it unable to seal an imperfect surface at times. Copper on the other hand will mold to the surface when crushed under pressure creating a better seal with no leaks all around.

Do other people see this were im coming from on this?

Not the ones i been getting, there just regular stainless steel. Copper is still an idea choice in my opinion because it can compress to seal better

The best choice is planing both surfaces so there is no gasket at all, then you have nothing to blow out or leak or replace.

Thats in a perfect world Bailhatch. Which this isnt. Heat causes metal to warp. Even if it isnt noticable to the human eye you can warp a turbo flange .010" or even .015" which is enough to cause a nice leak. Most people dont have the time, money, or equip. to resurface there turbo and manifold everytime the flange warps.

I dont normally use Gaskets, dont seem to have any problems with flange surfaces....
Pretty cool idea i guess for the people trying to track down sealing problems...

Must be one of those "low maintance" Setups.

just use the t3 gasket from Ford off the SVO or supercoupe, metalized paper and crushes to seal imperfections. or use copper spray on any gasket. A pure copper gasket is not maintenance free, they need occasional removal re annealing in oven and cleaning, they shrink and grow a lot shifting them around. you can buy a sheet of gasket copper from various suppliers but it would be way cheaper to go to Ford and shell out the 4.50 for their gasket.

Huh, apparently Maine is a perfect world then, because I do this time and time again with no problems at all. And they don't warp over time either.

I made a gasket out of copper.
It sealed great, but upon removing it a year later it had a few cracks starting to develop. I used 1mm copper sheet.

Good surfaces dont need gaskets.
But for someone that doesnt have access to surfacing I think its a good idea.
