Default Accord 01 HID conversion

I am interesting in doing a HID conversion on my 2001 accord coupe

I heard a bit about the subject, and i am wondering what people that knows about it more than i do, or already did it on their car, have to suggest, or recommend.

Any better brand (quality/price) would i be sorry if i would get a 5000k instead of a 10 000k?? Do i need to do serious modifications to my light housings do they wont melt or make everybody facing my car go blind?

please help me fellow h-t members !!
thank you!

You will not regret 5k over 10k. And the stock housings are fine. Your cutoff will be a problem without the right mods to the housings. Just getting the harnesses and bulbs is gay. And you will get yourself in trouble driving around blinding other people with them.

Talk to -bionic- if you can find him. He will have more on the details/hookups/etc...

But you get what you pay for.

Yea...the higher the K the closer to purple the beam and the LESS light the system actually puts out. I'd stick with 5k for best visibility and 6k for better visibility plus luxury color if youre looking for the style.

Many people offer 'plug and play' kits. Installing HID is not as hard as you may think, you can do it yourself if you understand wiring and have a manual to your car. I'd make sure, as superslow said, to give a cutoff beam for hte light, or otherwise retrofit a projector from an Audi or a BMW into the housing. If you look around here in the archived forums, theres some great shots of cutoff housings (I love the JDM integera HID cutoff some guy had, the line is SOO harsh and precise that it's awesome) here on honda-tech.

I actually prefer the German company Hella. I think that they were the first company out there that came out with HIDs. You can see their products on BMWs and Mercedes. They do make a conversion kit for Hondas. I myself got a kit for 9006 and it was a simple install. The only hard part was finding a place to install the ballast.

Hella and McCulloch are good brands. The problem is to watch out for ripoffs. The ballasts will he Hella or mcCulloch, and the rest of the kit will be lower quality mishmash, but they'll advertise it as a Hella or Mcculloch kit. Most GOOD HID kits will run you between 250 and 500 dollars for bulbs ballasts and harnesses. Projectors will be way more...

That is pretty cheap. Remember that you still need to spend money on ballast, bulbs and wireharness.
