AEM EMS: Switching basemaps on the fly?
I'm going to use an AEM EMS for my street/drag car. Obviously, you're going to have two different maps from driving on the street to drag mode => pump/race gas. What's the easiest way to switch between the two? To make a "switch" in the car to do it or just go ahead and break out the laptop and load another map?
I know there's gotta be other people here with this dilemma, what did you do?
Any suggestions and opinions are welcome!
Thanks in Advance

No, there's not a way to switch between maps. If you're going to the track and filling up with racegas, bring a laptop and just switch maps there.
You can hook up a switch to flip between high and low boost though.
Its still ten times cooler to have the laptop next to you on the passenger seat. Then if your floor board starts popping rivets into the car and it warns you of danger to the intake manifold you can slam it shut and blow the welds on the intake manifold.

lol... my friend just got a laptop and was commuting from his house in seattle to his parents for the weekend, i asked if he drove with the laptop open on the passengers seat of his crx
man all the questions in my head keep getting asked! honda-tech rules.. i figured it would have to be loading it on a laptop.. ahwell

He's right about that.
what I did is I have two separate cal files. one for the street and one for the drag strip. when I go to the strip I just load my drag strip cal. it only takes about a minute or so.

most of the time at the track you run higher boost right??
just tune the high boost area with race gas, the low boost area with pump gas. have a switch for high boost. when theboost goes up you have that area of the map tuned for race gas.
remember you dont have to have the same tune for 20psi that you do 10psi of boost. IMO there is no need for multiple maps unless you for some odd reason run the same boost with race and pump gas.

Jdogg I agree...thats we we do...I dont understand why people think they need to have 2 tunes....
We tune all cars to the MAX on PUMP gas and anything above that boost level is for race gas.....Just control your boost level....
No need for 2 chips or 2 CAL files.....

That makes sense. I've had my car tuned both ways. I personally don't mind having to change...

The reason why I have to cal files( 1 for street, 1 for race) is that I have more things change besides the boost settings. For awhile I was using only one map with a boost control switch but there is more things I change besides boost so I decided to have two separate cals.

exactly what i was thinking.... you may have more things changed other than just the boost
