help me fix my idle! d16y8 swap
look for vacume leaks and also adjust the idle screw, that and adjeust the hex screw on your tb using the allen wrench(might be a little off causing it to give alot of air) . make sure you have gaskets on the tb and im. Good luck.
How'd you get it down to 2000 rpm? I haven't put the new gaskets on mine yet so I don't know if that's going to fix mine or not, but I'd like to know what you did.
Also I thought mine was the throttle cable too at first, but then when I unhooked it from the throttle rotor it still did it.
More and more people are coming out of the woodwork with this problem and I'd love to know what it is... when I went to get my TB gasket at the Acura dealership, the guy in front of me in line had the same problem..

I bought a Y8 swapped 89 DX with the high/erratic idle from a guy and I found two problems; 1) only the top half of the intake manifold was bolted down
2) the TB gasket was for an A6/Z6 and Advance had to order the Y8 automatic gasket to get the right one. The part they listed for the manual was too small and left a huge gap. The Y8 TB has the IACV channel bulit into the bottom of the manifold/throttle body (yes even the manual manifold).

well, i tired the pulling of the cable thing and that dropped it, and it would not stay started w/o my foot on the gas. so i tightened it up to keep it around 2k, but it will die on me now...

your car seems to die cause you arent recieve engouh gas now, what method did you use to lower the idle? If it was the hex screw method that i mentioned above then you should open it a little bit more but not as much as the first time .

Almost. It still needs some fine tuning (he had the cam timing off by one tooth too), but I'll have it right in another week or two.
