B16a2 problem, nosie coming for time belt area

Default B16a2 problem, nosie coming for time belt area

I have a b16a swap in my 96 ex coupe and the other day I was driving and it sounded like nasty valve tik really loud, I looked at my timing belt and I can almost slide it right off the cam gears, the tension bolt is tight and I haven't really ripped the motor apart yet, ANY CLUE ON WHAT IT MIGHT BEE THANX HONDA TECH GODS FOR ANY HELP

does the timing belt flap a lot?
retension the belt and see if it stops

retension the belt and see if it stops</TD></TR></TABLE> The belt really is loose but doesn't move alot when running, If I take the car to about 3,000 rpm the nosie goes away but when I get off the gas it comes back, I put the motor at TDC and everything lines up it didn't jump a tooth or anything. I retensioned the belt and it still does it it only comes from the driver side of the motor Do you thing the spring on tensioner broke

Have you taken the timing cover off to look at it and check the tensioner and water pump? There is only so much you can diagnose on a computer and thats not a area you want to guess on.

Like I said, we would only be guessing. It could be a number of things. In any case your going to have to pull the lower timing cover off and see where the noise is coming from or take it someplace that can.

Thanx guys for all your help I have killed the BUG. I got really lucky I never really thought the crank pully would almost fall off if the bolt came loose, i the key that goes in the crank pully came out that was the problem everything is all good thanx again to the HONDA TECH GODS
