Timming Belt Loose?
Never really paid attention to my timming belt, but the other day I had my hood up w/ the engine running and began to rev the motor. I noticed that the belt would somewhat have slack when the engine was revved. Is this normal or is the belt loose?
Basically is the belt supposed to look the same when revved as compared to neautral or is it common that when the motor is revved, the belt wiggles...

It's not completely accurate but you can try this... between the cam and crank place your thumb at the midpoint. Press down with approximately 20lbs of force. the deflection shouldnt be more than an inch.
another option would be to just re-tension the timing belt. set to tdc. loosen the tensioner, turn at the crankshaft so about 3 camgear teeth move to the left. torque the tensioner bolt.

Not sure I understand the deflection?

Yea I was just seeing if there was another way or if someone can tell my looking at it. I dont have access to a timming gun.
Thanks for the reply.
BTW Would I see any loss in preformance/or idle when the motor is running if this were the case?

Re: Timming Belt Loose? (HTechBB)
when you checked it was the motor up to normal operating temperature? if not slack is normal when the motor is cold.
if u have that problem where you can see the belt look "shaky" when its warmed up...replace it. you don't wanna have to deal with bent valves. and i'm guess it's a b-series so a new honda belt will be like $50 (def get oem)
