another turbo question
i just turboed my b16, i was just wondering what is a safe amount of boost to run? im only running 5pds right now, playing it safe. right now i dont have a upgraded fuel pump or injectors, im runnin just running a vortech fmu. thanks

you could go up 10 if you got new injectors and ran hondata with a good tune, as long as the tuning is good u dont have to worry as much about hp, like most people think 220ish is the limit for a d16 turbo but if you get a good tune they can push 260ish on stock internals, but that would have to be an awesome tune lol
get it on a dyno and tune, as long as you have a good tune it doesn't really matter. most people run 10-12psi max, but there are many who exceed this, and they are able to do this with tuning.

260ish whp on a stock internal D16?? where? no matter how good the tune is, i'm pretty sure the stock rods will eventually bend/snap/break if you make frequent use of all that power. you might not melt a piston, but the rods will eventually fail.

Yup, the most you could push (constantly) on stock D16 internals (in MOST cases) would be 230hp. Even that is pushing it though.
As for the question, I would say you could run about 10psi when you want to have some fun (track), but 5-8 would be good for daily driving.

ya fmu's arent good at all, they are linear in their fuel delivery and the amount of psi they will cause to be pushed through your injectors isnt good for them...
Get rid of the FMU and get it TUNED. If you aren't already OBDI, convert. Then find a tuner near you. You can usually get your car tuned with Uberdata for around $150 (street tuned). Then have them touch it up at a dyno if you want. Either way.. FMUs are junk.

When yuo get to 8psi you are pushing an additional 96 psi through your injectors which is not good, get rid of the fmu and as stated above me convert to OBD1 and run uberdata cause its the ubershit

i dont see anything wrong with a fmu, works like its suppose to, i have had them on 3 cars and they worked fine

i ran an fmu with my b16 and melted the **** out of 2 pistons with a fuel pump.if you are going to run the fmu,i suggest never reving past 5500 rpm(or where your vtec engages) until you get a pump,injectors,and tuning of course.not tuned with the vtec will just screw **** up.thats probably why u see that hesitation.
fmu's are crap considering what u can get now, for a little more you could get uberdata and have a **** load better tune , rather than something is linear and doesnt do anything, other than stress the injectors

at 6psi with a 12:1 fmu... youve got 72psi going to your fuel pump. If your fuel pump cant keep up with the added psi.... then your going to go lean and possibly blow up ur motor.
