i had oone on my hatch and it was loud, without a resonator it sounded like ****, but with a resonator it was smooth, but still loud. if you like loud but smooth exhaust sound this is your muffler.

Why? I guess you just want that horrible sound..Beacuse you're not going to see any performance gains..Just more noise..
Honda never made 2" piping for the 88-91 civic/crx..

They dont come with 2" piping stock..
My 88 hatch had like 1" piping stock..Its really small..

i don't mean to thread-jack, just want to relate what my exhaust sounds like. i think all the straight through mufflers with big outlets probably sound about the same, but i only have experience with the one on my "new" car:
i just bought a crx with b16 swap, stock header, 2.25 inch straight pipe, and apex'i ni exhaust. it sounds ricey and bumble-bee as hell. the apex'i n1 has a giant coffee can sized outlet (115 mm[?])
i want to get a deeper sound with a smaller exhaust tip. i saw this OBX exhaust for a decent price on ebay

what do you think?
it looks kinda stock. that's more what i want - anything but a coffee-can!

I know a guy with that exhaust..He has a d16z6..It sounds very high pitched..Its not that raspy though..But its high pitched like the hks sport..But the second he hits 3500rpm it starts getting slightly raspy..

That OBX you have pictured is a 4 inch tip. Thats hardly stock looking
Im also about to upgrade my exhaust friday. I'm down to these there:
RS*R
HKS Sport
or magnaflow with long resinator
those three will give good performance and not sound like ****. but its $$$

Honda's stock muffler size on 1.6l engines are 1.5". Its small, in my calculations, 2,25" would be perfect for 1.6l. Personally i dont like loud mufflers. I like deep nice tone in low rews, and nice louder sound when accelerating. Thatswhy i made my own exhaust. :D
I have the skunk 2 as we speak on my b16 crx with 2 1/4 in pipe. Sounds great. Im not into the rice sound high pitch crap. Has a really really deep tone, no raspy sounds NOTHING. great if u ask me but im into sleeper style so on goes my stock look exhaust soon
...its kinda loud but its just because it has a rummble to it. The silencer is great tho i kinda feel a TINY bit more on top end without it at around 6800-7800... But the silencer is pretty cool u cant really hear it across about a 4 lane road if i reved it u would barley hear it. sounds good tho...

if you look, there are 2 types of DTM exhausts. the one for sale (or at least pictured) is the 90 degree bend before the dual tip one. i guess i should clarify:
it looks like a stock integra exhaust.
no?
how do you know it is 4 inches at the outlet? i doubt it has dual 4 inch outlets.
