Default CX vs. DX

I know that this question has been asked a million times probably, but what is the difference as far as options between the 96-00 Cx and Dx honda hatches.

they have the same engine so they are equally as fast. cx didnt have a rear wiper and little things like that

Yes they do but they have different trannies. The CX has gear ratios that will have you going 85 in third at 3,500 RPM (just a guess, but that is what it is like) The gear ratios are long as hell and therefore much slower.

i thought the 96-00 both have d16y7, dx trannies. it was just the rear wipers and small things like that which seperated a cx from a dx.

a 92-95 cx and dx is a different case. both came with different motors and different trannies as well as less features for the cx.

On another post, people are sayin that the tranny's for the CX, DX, LX and VX are a a002 tranny code. And that the EX, an SI have the boo2 tranny code.

If they have the same codes shouldnt they have the same gearing?

I am planning on swapping a gsr motor into it so hp and torque isnt an issue. If I buy the tranny motor and ecu and skunk 2 harness is that all I need. I have heard that I need a vtec harness and definitely some motor mounts. About the first question I was wondering about the power windows and locks, power steering and that kindof thing.

I don't know about the rest of them, but I do know that an ex tranny is way longer than the si trans.

this is really funnie because i just clicked on a link in someones sig on jdmc. it has ALL the differences

http://www.jdmcivic.com/forums...=spec

go there
they are exactly the same except the dx weighs more. the ppl in the cx hatches losing to the dx's are crappy drivers. especially when you have like two minutes between gears.

i have a Cx...

What if i temporarily stuck a y8 head on it and put an ex tranny in it until i get gsr or type r motor? How much of an improvement will this make in the hatch?

a ex/si tranny makes a big difference on a cx. i have one on my stock cx and it actually chirps 1st for me. enough to beat a type r rev limited at 4k rpm lol

the gains will be noticeable, it will feel more torque down below and a bit more top end. a mini me + an ex tranny is somewhere in the range of ~600 or more so just save that money for your swap
