Holy damn...
The motors between the Cx and Dx hatch (6th gen) are the SAME as is their gearing.
It's all about options. The base model Cx came with nothing (I know, I have one). No interior power anything, no A/C, no power steering, no tach, no rear wiper, no rear cargo cover, no color matched side moldings (I think the Dx did) or color matched rear spoiler (I know), no radio, no floormats. It'd probably be easier to say what it did come with - 4 wheels, an engine, tranny, alternator and heat.
Of course, Cx's could be upgraded with similar options as the Dx but they didn't come stock with them.

omg people.. cx is the base model, comes with nothing. UNLESS the orginal owner opted to get those options. DX comes with standard features such as ac/ rear wiper, ps, rear defrost, clock, etc etc. the motors are different.
As far as exterior, mouldings were an option.

Hrm, iono, my friend got his hands on a stock 92 CX (or 93 CX) to drop a B16 into and although there's no AC, no rear windshield wiper, manual windows, probabl manual steering rack (the B16 had power steering so I'd assume he hooked that up aftermarket) but one thing it did have was a radio - the dash was the same as my 95 EX, he had an aftermarket face on there - but there was definately a radio
