Why restrict it, run 3 if you can, full 3 inch exhaust is going to yield more power when you start making it, not to mention shorten spool time.

I have jdmb16 in mine with a sc61 and i run open downpipe. Its 3inch dp to. Runs good just very loud and smells like gas all the time. Sounds good when the turbo spools up..

Run 3" if it's in your budget. I'm running full 3" turbo-back with no cat and love the hell out of it. I get good spool time, good sound, and no funky smell [like you will with open DP].

I don't think so...

I prefer a full exhaust to open DP due to the annoyances associated with open DP, like the smell and the noise. Also depending on where you vent it, you can end up with soot all over the place.

running an open downpipe is fun and games for about a day, after that it's just annoying. The saying goes "If it's too loud, you're too old"...I guess I'm too old. BTW my car made 295whp with full exhaust (catless), so I'm not even concerned about a few potential fwp that might be gained by open dp. In my opinion the negatives out-weigh the positives with open dp.

I gained 68 whp on a open downpipe and retune on my old setup. Thats the reason I don't go back to an exhaust. It is annoying tho, and it does smell bad, and it does get soot all over the general area.

So yeah, I agree with both sides.

lol, i will. Eventually when i get my car done i wanna come look at your setup. The nice part is, i have a 45* turndown at the end, so all ofthe soot and crap goes towards the ground, not my car.

Will you be at the ATL Honda-Tech Meet in April @ Andretti? I'll be there in my ride.

Haha, my point exactly.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Ryceboi318 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">so when i get a 3' exhaust from the muffler shop what about my muffler?? and if i do get a open dp is it really that loud?? is it a big differents in performances</TD></TR></TABLE>

Lots of companies make a 3" muffler. Yes, open DP is loud and obnoxious. Want to find out? Take your stock exhaust off and run open header. It's enough to make one sick. If you follow the theory that no exhaust is the best exhaust [Corky nut-swingers] then yes, open DP will make more power than a full 3" exhaust. How much more? Not enough for me to put up with the headaches of open DP.

I'll be there, but i dont think my car will be done by then(read taking the hooptie there), unless you know of an uber cheap but good body shop to do some paint/welding/fiberglass work
