Recently driving CEL poped up, had the code checked later on by a friend, it says something about cylinder misfire... cylinder 1. I don't know what have caused this... the only thing that I could think of is that lately I drove the car for a week or so w/o an air filter. But that shouldn't cause ignition or even misfire problems? Some input needed. Car is a 96 accord 5pd with over 100k on it. Everything in the engine stock except for some cheap intake tube I slapped on there.

 

i'd try replacing your distributor cap and rotor and reset the ecu, thats most likely your problem.

 

Was that the only code? Reset it and see if it comes back.

 

Try a new set of NGK spark plugs.

That is what I did last week when I pulled CEL74. No problems since.

just replace plugs wires cap and rotor
