What is a cylinder misfire code?
I took my car for emissions yesterday, and it passed. It failed the OBD plug test because my ecu is throwing cylinder misfire codes on all four cylinders. They said I needed new sparkplugs, but they are only 4 months old. I'm using bosch platinum +4s. I'm just worried, because I'm about to boost, and didn't know if I should with my ecu throwing that code. Sp does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thanks!

1) Did you gap the plugs properly
2) What plug wires are you using
3) How old is your distr. cap/rotor.. the seal may be bad
4) No, you shouldn't boost it yet

bosch plugs are for german cars.....ngk.....
a cylinder miss fire usually a random one will set it there is a problem with the ignitor....

The +4's you can't gap, and I'm using stock plugs. The cap and rotor is about 2 years old, with about 30,000 miles? Maybe I should try changing the cap and rotor? And is the ignitor a replaceable part? Thanks again!

If you are going boost, and you cant afford NGK platinums, I would not recommend going boost. You will need to check and possibly change them every few thousand miles, and it will get rather costly.

I thought that you couldn't use platinum plugs with turbo? I was thinking about getting the BCPR7E plugs. I searched, and for a b18b running 7 psi that should be good, right? Anyone else have any other suggestions?

I have seen a misfire code for not torquing the plugs correctly. I have also seen it because there was a hole in the valve .

Misfire codes can result from numerous things.... but I doubt it's cuz you're using bosche plugs...hahaha...
It can throw that code due to a bad ignitor (ICM) (Which is replacable), I think a bad coil also. If your plug wires are crappy (most aftermarket ones are) they can have electromagnetic jumps from wire to wire, causing a misfire....
Also moisture in the distributor cap can cause this (ie: The cap gasket/seal is bad, allowing in moisture)
If your distributor bearing is damaged/bad, it may also throw off the pickups, throwing a code.
BTW, on my boosted B18B, I ran NGK ZFR6F11's up to 12psi.

Thanks guys. I will check those things out. The ignitor is pretty damn expensive! Sheesh. Atleast I passed the emissions.
