Default Going to see State Ref. tomorrow for exhaust. any tips H.T.?

i got a fix it ticket for my exhaust being "too loud." So im going to see the state ref. tomorrow, im just going to get it checked out to see if it meets noise requirements, should i bring a paper from the Honda dealership saying that i got the right ECU for my car? any other tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yea what he said. See u must be in cali. Any mods to ur car, if u have a piece of plastic missing over the cam gears they will make u go to the ref. Just call up the manufacturer and they will mail the Db rate out to u so u can shop the judge. U can try the ref i guess but i wouldnt if it costs money. If they gave u enough time just get it from greddy

thats the last thing you need to worry about, yes it was installed by a shop.but you have not been tested by a referee and then given a sticker authorizing you to have that motor in there.

If you have a sohc zc you should be okay. I went to the State Ref for my exhaust being too loud and I had to swap back my stock motor back in because they will pop your hood to see what motor you have. Other than that the test is very simple. They will rev your engine to half of what your redline is and do it 3 times and average out how many db your exhaust is. If you pass you will get a sticker saying your exhaust is legal.

sohc zc looks like a stock d16, so they will just take a quick glance to check oil level and coolant level. If you have a b16 on the other hand the ref will say something.

Actually I have seen/heard of some cops that know the difference between the different Honda engines. A friend of mine was pulled over for no plate on the front. Well the cop told him to pop his hood and when he saw that it was a B16 in his hatchback w/ no BAR sticker, he told my friend to never drive the car on the street again or the state will remove it!

Cops aren't as unknowing as we would hope for them to be; a lot of them are car guys just like us. In fact the officer that pulled me over last year for a fix it ticket began talking about CRX's and how much he loved them! He told me about his white CRX that he had and stuff, I was kind of shocked.

If he checks it and you're running a JDM ECU, he might get you for that.

Today i went to go see the state ref but i didnt pass but he said that i could put a silencer on my exhaust and he could still test it and approve it. The ref was really cool though, he offered me a job to be a "trainee" so im going to take this job. so to this ref!

I went to the station in Riverside, Ca off La Cadina. But today 1-20-05 I past the test and my exhaust is certified. He was also tellin me more 'bout what the job involves and what we will be doing, so he was really koo especially to offer me a job, i think it was that he he saw that i go to U.T.I. because no state ref will just offer anyone a job like that but who knows...hopefully i get the job
