Default d16z6 and d16y8 how do they differ

Well the big questiion i need answered is if the blocks are the same...i have a y8 and i am wondering if i can buy a z6 block and it will be EXACTLY the same. but also i have heard they are very similar and i figured a thread discussing the differences might be interesting. thanks

y8 has a better flowing intake manifold, and the combustion chambers are slightly smaller to bump up the compression. While the Z6 has a better flowing head because the intake ports are equally split to each valve while the y8's are offset to create a swirling effect into the combustion chamber.

Isnt the oil major difference between the z6 and y8 is the oil pumps, and the location of the dipstick?

i would like to know ALL the differences. also i have a jdm d15b vtec engine in my car. the p08 head are the same (from what i've heard) as the head on the z6. so which head is better for an all motor d-series build?

Did you say ALL the differences??

There are many, too many to go over piece by piece. Most are not substantial

Y8 head for all motor!!! CC's are shaped to help prevent detonation

Everything else I agree with except that... The fat short plenum of the Y8 manifold makes it produce more power in low-mid rpms... While the Z6 manifold makes more in high rpms...

There was thread that gave an in-depth explanation a long time ago....

Also if he uses the z6 block he will slightly bump compression, i believe...
