Help with the ITR exhaust system.
I was wondering if someoen could explain to me the parts that consist in the itr exhaust system. I've searched and i still dont quite understand. If someoen can sum it up in a nutshell for me that be great. If someone wants to explain this to me in a nutshell thatd be cool. Also, i've read places where the exhaust would have to be modified if a jdm header was used, why? i do not understand.
If mods need to lock this go ahaed, my flamesuit is on.

A JDM header has a 2.5inch collector where it meets up with the cat. Stock is 2inch I believe. Basically, the stock system is the exhaust manifold, A-pipe, cat, b-pipe, and axle back. The exhaust mani and the a-pipe is like a two piece header stock. JDM and USDM cats are different lengths as well.
Thanks for ur patience with a noob like me... also, what is a bottleneck? and why does it seem like some people out there want the non-bottleneck version? On the ips website, they sell two types of t1r exhaust, one was teh axle back and i dont remember what the other was, what is the difference?
I think i understand... so the header is made of two pieces... the jdm one is a different length than the usdm one... that is why when someoen gets a jdm header they need to get a different cat/test pipe? and from there it would be the bpipe and exhaust muffler? Is there a picture that descibes it in a nutshell?
the picture I put up is the stock US ITR back pipe that I had modified to flow better.
As for the header being two parts, not all.. only a few.
the oem JDM 4-1 is one part and is only a bit longer, I think 5/8 to 3/4 longer. But that causes the need for a different cat or test pipe.

The stock USDM header, Yes. The JDM header is 1 piece.

Correct.
And also the flange from the JDM sized header will not correctly mate up to the USDM sized cat iirc.

Here's a shot from header to tip of muffler all in a line:

Be sure to understand that the above is an entirely aftermarket header back setup from SMSP and posted by Chiller here: http://img.photobucket.com/alb...c.jpg

So the concept of what is described to you is illustrated above in the pic but on a stock USDM R will look quite different.

I got it guys thanks a lot... Also, if i were interseted in teh t1r exhaust, i wouldnt have to be worried about fitment issues on a 2000 usdm correct? However, if i got a jdm header in the future, i would have to get a different test/cat for it to connect to the bpipe. Is there antyhing else i would need for everything to fit together? bbasso mentioned something about the flange not fitting from a jdm header... woudl i need a different flange?
