Default SMSP my review

I have had a lot of people asking me questions on the SMSP set up I have and I decided that I should do a write up with all the information I collected so here goes…

SMSP header

SMSP highflow cat

SMSP intermediary (magnaflow resonator)

SMSP muffler (magnaflow resonator)

All together

Now for power. I took my full stock ITR to the dyno and got these numbers:

Video:
http://www.thepub.ch/files/car/ITRstockdyno.wmv

Dyno graph:

I bolted up the whole line (header, cat, exhaust, along with a comptech icebox and a K&N filter) and headed back to the dyno. Here are the numbers:

Dyno graph:

Now for the comparison of both curves stock (RED) vs. modded (BLUE)

Torque comparison:

Along with this here’s a run I did on the track with non drag slicks and horrible conditions (95 degrees and very humid)…

13.7s run

All in all I’m more than happy with this set up. I can't imagine anything better. This is with NO tuning , just bolted on. I have yet to tune the motor and see what numbers I will be pulling. Also the peak value I got is not what it should be the dyno guy let off the gas too early but what matters most is how we can see a 5-15hp gain throughout the whole line! I hope this sums it up for everyone.

There has been a lot of questions on the sound. Honestly for a 2.5" exhaust it is basey as you heard in the dyno run. I love the sound. It's not at all highpitched. It almost doesn't sound like a honda when you hear it driving on the road. I was also concerned with how much sound it would be making and it's not at all a problem what so ever.

I got it used off of Keith in Florida. ITR004. If I remember correctly the whole thing cost me 1700. Including the intake.

Would you know the part number for this muffler (resonator)? I really like it and would like to add it to my custom exhaust.

If I'm not mistaken, it appears to be Magnaflow P/N 12636:

I think you're mixing me up with DCR2girl, she's from switzerland. I'm planning on going for the JDM front. I want to go HID and I love the front. I hoping I'll have enough money by this summer to go for it.

For the motor I'm hesitating between vtec controller and uberdata. For the moment I don't need more than that. When I install cams and rebuild the block (higher compression, etc) I'll probably go for AEM EMS. I can't wait but it's great to watch the car evolve equaly in both areas (suspension and motor).

Thanks for the feedback!

Sorry, no I don't know the part number. I'm sure Dave from SMSP will help you out.

Talking about Dave. Even though I bought these parts used he was more than helpful. We threw back and fourth 20 emails talking about the curve I drew. He also was a great help when I called for questions. He's great to deal with!

Judging from your last video your top speed on the dyno was 225kmh -> suggesting you used 5th gear on the dyno... That would read a bit lower than using 4th gear.

Those Bosh dynos read very low numbers. Perhaps too low. I also dynoed my stock ITR on a Bosh dyno a while ago, and got 142whp (which is about the same as you got in the first video). After bolting on I/H/E/Remove PS, I dynoed on a US Mustang dyno and got 182whp, which in turn would be about the same as 200 US Dynojet whp . Just FYI.......

I don't see what the big deal is, especially since it's not tuned...tune it and then post the graphs...
