Default 16.5:1 AFR while crusing, is this ok?

Hi,

actualy i run ~14.7-15.0:1 while crusing (till ~600mbar absolute pressure) which is a good value.

but i thought about leaning the mixture out a bit to ~16:1 whie crusing to improve the MPG? i tried it for a short test and the exhause gas temp. is very low so thats not a problem i think... but are there any other things to say that this is too lean?

power is not a concern, only for the MPG... abot 600mbar the mixture is much richer so that i get no problems there at all...

Thanks
Malte.

I do not think you will see an improvement running leaner than 15.5:1 on Honda's.

it will be ok , but if you cruise 14.7-15.0 i wouldnt touch it. it will start bucking once you get like 17's and higher

I've cruised around at 16-17:1 A/F, even hit 18 before. car does not buck, drives fine and gets good gas mileage. EGT's were low. I brought t back to 15 tho for peace of mind as not many ppl seem to lean it way uot during crusing/light load.

i tried a new rom this morning on the highway... but 16.5:1 seems to be to lean for my car... it didn't drive very well... so i switched back... maybe i lean it out a little bit at very low mbar but i don't think that improve the mpg...

but thanks for your informations.
Malte.

You will be perfectly fine running that since you are at a low load. I know some people who will add hondata to their stock car and lean it up a bit under low loads just to get better mpg.
