Default honda element factory alarm woes

ok guys. i just installed the factory honda alarm.
i followed the instructions to the tee.
when i connect the battery the alarm led stays lit, when i go to arm the system it beeps three times, and the led stays on. when i disarm the led stays on. and if i try to arm the system and then try to trigger the alarm nothing happens.

any ideas? i have tried everything i could think of.

thanx in advance,
-tom

Why the hell would you buy an OEM alarm? For like $250 on ebay you could get one that has alarm/remote start and 2 way paging and start confirmation on it. Most have a lot more options than that too.

well i hate the wiring process. the stock one just plugs in. also i have no need for remote start and i hate the size of the paging remote. besides $80 is a lot better than $250.

thanx

tom</TD></TR></TABLE>I don't know, $80 for a OEM alarm that does not work you can get a DEI alarm , [Clifford 100] for about that, comes with 2- 2button remotes, dual stage impact and and starter cut relay built in 94

So basically you have an OEM Alarm...that like FCM states sound like its
in valet mode. And let me guess,no returns/refunds right.

[QUOTE=tom108]well i hate the wiring process. the stock one just plugs in. also i have no need for remote start and i hate the size of the paging remote. besides $80 is a lot better than $250.

So you basically have a system that anyone with half a brain can access schematics online/get a manual for... that plugs in with no issues .is
mounted in the same spot on every vehicle!! Wow great security.
I hope you don't have anything of value you are trying to protect.

the idea of a security system is that even though the wiring is universal, it allows
more flexability from car to car.

ok thanx for all the help. but it appears that instead of either offering me good help/suggestions it has turned into a flame war on me, while trying to convince me to buy a new alarm.

anyways thanx for all the wasted time sorry i wasted yours.
buy the way i did not mount the factory alarm in the stock location. it also was wrapped in electrical tape to make it harder to recognize.

i have installed many viper, clifford, and alpine alarms. i don't really need all that. i don't have crazy audio anymore and just the stock head unit. just wanted a little added assurance.

tom</TD></TR></TABLE>I think you misunderstand, we are not trying to flame you, but you have an alarm, [ just happens to be an OEM one , that cost you $80] that is not working, and you can't get it to work, we would assume that if you have somekind of warranty, you would have used it already, or you would not have posted here, and as the alarm is a "plug and play" and we have asked you to try a few limited "fix its" that did not work, and with the cost of repair being about the same as an entry level brand name alarm, [with more capability] that is why we are "trying to convince you to buy a new alarm" YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF.

Right now you have an alarm that does not work, do what you think is best, I have told you what I think is best. 94
