turbo running bad
I have a 00' lude, and i just installed a turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, front mount intercooler, etc. It is running pretty bad. I haven't got it tuned yet, do you think that is the only thing wrong with it? (the power is all over the place when I hit the gas)
I'm getting a apexi v-fac and 450 cc injectors when i get it tuned. right now it just has an fmu and the stock injectors. I'm pretty sure tuning is all it needs I just wanted to check.
if u get on it enough to tell its not working right...that's enough to blow it...take the charge pipe off, drive it to get tuned, if it has probs there u will be monitoring it so u will know
It's hard to say what the problem is without a very detailed description of the set up etc...
There are so many different problems that can affect the way a turbo car will drive...
Also, what do you mean by "running bad"?
Does it start up well? Idle well? Does it drive well out of boost? or just in boost? How much boost are you seeing? Can you hear any funny noises?

if you have a boost gauge i say only drive it to get it tuned, and stay out of boost, if you don't have a boost gauge get one. little know to people is you can drive a car around all day long with out hitting boost,
i don't suggest taking the charge piping off because i have heard that you can over spin your turbo and possibly cause damage. if the wastegate never sees presure to divert exhaust around the turbine the turbo could over spin and destroy it self or cause premature bearing damage

ok cool. I'm not getting on it utili get it tuned. I just hit it once after i put it on to see how it was running. I have aboost gauge and every thing is good on that end. I onlygo into boost a little when driving. I should have enough to ge it tuned soon. I'll just take it easy till then.

granny shift it , stay out of boost until tuned, you have been forwarned ,

Yeah, tuning is everything. A shop nearby had a B16 turbo CRX that was putting down less power than stock because it was so raw. Prelude ECU's are a bitch to boost. Seriously consider upgrading to a standalone ems like Hondata or MicroTech. A little pricey but its worth the security of a fine tuned motor and power gains. It will make a world of a difference
Minimize boost until you can tune. If it's running like **** you're are destined to bust a ringland (if you are not sleeved already) very shortly, if you haven't done it already.
Even tuned on a stock block is touch and go.
I would suggest a compression test. ASAP. No sense tuning an already busted motor.
