Default open deck?

I have heard and read about open deck, but i still dont understand what it is. From what i understand is that closed deck cars are easier to turbocharge and open deck are more difficult. Can somebody please explain this to me

thanks, Matt

interested as well.

I'm pretty sure some of it is because of the sleeve walking

thats an h22, and thats a closed deck block.

that is a d16 and is an open deck.

only h22 hondas are closed deck.

the sleeves can move under high boost, which is why some people use block guards which can help the problem some times and make it worse others. others use pins through the outside of the block that seem to work rather well against sleeve walking.

Also, new sleeves will pretty much entirely take care of the problem.
